Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2017 Dodge Durango R/T
Question:
Hello, Im looking for a trailer hitch for my 2017 Dodge Durango R/T. I want one that can tow the capacity of the vehicle. However I want to be able to have the spare tire on and below the bumper. Or on the pc of the bumper stays the same and it can hide the hitch. Your help is greatly appreciated,

Since you are wanting to keep your full size spare installed on your 2017 Dodge Durango R/T the trailer hitch that you need to use is the Draw-Tite # 75713. This has a Tongue Weight (TW) rating of 900 lbs and a Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating of 6,000 lbs. When used with a weight distribution system the TW stays the same but the GTW jumps up to 7,500 lbs. You will need to consult your owner's manual regarding your max towing capacity as it is typically lower than what the trailer hitch can handle.
If you have the factory tow package then I recommend using the Curt T-Connector # C55515 or you can use the Tekonsha T-One # 118617 if you don't have the factory tow package.
The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 2" Drop # C45036 is a great option to use but you will want to consult the attached ball mount article to determine if the 2" drop is what you need for your towing setup.
Since you are wanting to tow the biggest trailer that you can with your Durango I recommend making sure your trailer has brakes and that you use a weight distribution system. If you decide to use either option let me know because you will require a few different parts if that is the case.
