We have everything you need to install a trailer brake controller on your 1995 Dodge 3500 Van.
First, if you do not yet have any type of trailer connector at the rear of the van, you will need to start with a 4-Way connector by installing the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector
Item # C59236. This custom harness will install by plugging directly the existing port located under the vehicle, on the passenger side.
I have attached the written installation instructions as well as a sample installation video that you can take a look at.
You will then need to use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7, which includes everything needed to install a fully-functional 7-Way connector from the above mentioned 4-Way, along with the wiring and circuit breakers needed to install a trailer brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.
Then, for the brake controller itself, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This is an excellent proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Dodge Van. It features an easy to read LCD display, storable settings, and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. There is not a factory brake controller connector beneath the dash of your Dodge Van, so the controller will simply need to be hardwired using the Wiring Kit mentioned above.
