Can Electric Brakes be Used on Boat Trailers?

Hi, I would like to use Electric Brakes for my boat trailer. Do you recommend it? Are there safety concerns with the boat trailer going into the water? Do all factory vehicles with 7-round connector have brake controllers? Do I need a brake controller? Thanks!

It is fine to use electric brakes on a boat trailer, just be sure to unplug them before hitting the water.

In regards to a brake controller, vehicles with factory 7-ways do not have brake controllers integrated in them and you will need one if you have electric brakes. There may be a harness that allows you to simply plug the controller in and use it without difficulty. If you let me know the year, make and model of your vehicle I can tell you if there is a fit for a plug-and-play brake controller.
