Recommended 7-Way Wiring Connector and Brake Controller for Sailboat Trailer with Electric Brakes

Question:

I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier, 6-cylinder, 4-door, automatic transmission. I have a receiver hitch and the Nissan jumper to connect all the brake lights not sure if anything else is connected. I will hopefully be towing a dual axle sailboat trailer with electric brakes that will be carrying a 25 feet long 4500# sailboat with 4.5 feet draft on it. The towing will be out of the water, up the ramp, into the parking lot, backing into its parking slot. I will also take the boat back down the hill to put it into the water. I have the 4-wire connectors but will need either the 6 or the 7 wire set up to use the brakes. Is this a reasonable operation? What do I need to get to activate the brakes, if that is necessary for the little bit of towing Ill be doing. Speed will be 15 mph at the absolute max and more like 5-10 mph. Thank you for your help.

For your 2007 Nissan Frontier, I recommend the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 along with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This wiring kit will connect to your 4-way and give you the ability to add the brake controller function as well as others to give you a 7-way compatible with your sailboat trailer. This brake controller will give you the manual override to give you trailer braking using the manual override.

I recommend disconnecting your wiring connection before submerging the connector in water as water and electricity don't play well together. It will work well until that point. I've attached some videos and an article to assist.
