Troubleshooting Steps on 2016 Coachmen 29 SB Motorhome
Question:
Our steps fully extends but retracts about half way when we step on them. Close the door and they retract then extend when reopening the door. So it seems the door motor works. What causes it to retract when stepping on it and with the door still open and yhen by only about 50? Is there a pressure sensor?

Helpful Expert Reply:
There is a sensor that is intended for obstruction detection that will stop the extending and retract if it were to hit an obstacle. It sounds like this is malfunctioning as it shouldn't detect stepping pressure when fully extended as an obstacle and even so should retract fully not 50%.
If your step is fully extending and retracting without this pressure, we can eliminate the possibility of a switch issue on the door. We can also eliminate the motor and gearing. That leaves the control module which is the brain of the unit that needs to be replaced. I recommend the Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301702 to solve your problem.
