The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch C13100 that you used on your previous model Ford Explorers is actually only a fit for the Explorers up through the 2017 model year. It does look like the 2018 Ford Explorer received a facelift that requires an entirely new trailer hitch model.
For your vehicle, I recommend the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C13386. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit the 2018 Explorer and will use existing holes in its frame for a no-drill installation. It will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening and it features a 400 pound tongue weight capacity, along with a 4,000 pound towing limit. You will also want to check your owner's manual to verify the vehicle's towing capacity.
I have attached an installation video on your Ford Explorer that you can use for reference.
If you are planning to do some towing and the Explorer is not already equipped with a wiring connector, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118540. This custom harness will install by connecting directly to the built-in ports located under the vehicle, on the passenger side. This will provide you with a 4-Way connector to connect with and power the trailer's signal lights.
I have also included an installation video on this product that you can check out.
