Bike Rack Needed for a 2018 Honda Fit with Plastic Spoiler

Question:

I have been very frustrated trying to find a Trunk bike rack for two bikes that will work safety with my Honda Fit 2018 due to the factory installed PLASTIC spoiler. Wish I knew about this problem before I purchased the car... is there one ???? I already have the Saris Bones... Is there a bike rack out there? Or can I adapt my current one? Thank you,

I do have a solution for you to use a 2-bike bike rack with your 2018 Honda Fit, but since the spoiler is plastic none of the trunk mount options are going to be compatible. The all use straps that would go over the spoiler and could very likely damage it.

Instead what you need to do is install a trailer hitch and use a hitch mounted bike rack. Although this is different than what you are wanting the perks of using this system include not having any bike or bike rack contact with your new vehicle and a hitch mounted bike rack is much quicker to install and remove.

I recommend using the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24920 along with the Kuat Beta # B202-114 to carry your bikes. The trailer hitch is a custom fit and doesn't require any modifications to your vehicle. The bike rack is one of the best bike racks we have at a great price-point.

The Beta is made of aluminum so it only weighs a mere 12.6 lbs but is also able to resist corrosion much better than steel-frame bike racks. It can hold up to 2 bikes that weigh 40 lbs each and uses an integrated anti-wobble system to help limit any movement. The folding arms only sit 8" apart which reduce the need for an adapter bar like part # UB01 for bikes with alternative frames. When you receive the Beta you can immediately start using it as it comes fully assembled and ready to go!

If you would like to add some security to your equipment then I recommend going with the Kuat Bike Rack Lock # HL1 and a cable lock like part # e98891. This bike rack only fits 1-1/4" receivers but for long term use you can also get the Shank Adapter # D101 in the future so that it is compatible with a 2" receiver as well.

I have attached some videos of the trailer hitch and the Beta for you to reference as well.
