Recommended Bike Rack For Jeep Commander To Avoid Lifting Bikes High

Question:

Have an old Thule 2inch hitch mount 2 bike rack w/ non-swing down arms and on my Jeep the arms are too high off the ground. Looking for a decent quality similar 2-4 bike rack w/ swing arm + verticle height adjustment built in so I can adjust the above ground height of the arms up or down. Is there such a thing - if so havent seen it. Essentially main vertical support tube needs to be a steel tube within a tube design that can slide up or down w/ multi through-bolt holes to lock in the desired place.

The best option for you to have to avoid you lifting the bikes so high to put them on the Jeep, is to go with a platform bike rack solution. The Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Rack # TH92BJ will allow you to load the bikes just right above the hitch for easy access loading and unloading. With he Doubletrack's low loading height and ratcheting arms on the central mast, your bikes are mounted and ready to go in seconds. The arms include cushioned hooks that adjust independently to hold two bikes of different styles and sizes. The mast also folds down easily when you pull a lever at the base, and each arm has a Thule One Key System lock to secure your bikes to the rack.

I cannot find a vertical height adjustment built in to a bike rack, but the # TH92BJ is the next best thing if your main concern is the height of the rack when unloading and loading.

We don't carry a bike rack with a vertical height adjustment, but that is a good idea. The # TH92BJ is the next best thing.

We also have the platform rack: Thule T2 Pro XTR 4 Bike Platform Rack # TH69TX can be set up to hold 2 or 4 bikes for you to look at.
