Tips for Loosening Exhaust Hangers to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2016 Cadillac ATS
Question:
I took a look at my ATS before trying to install the draw site hitch ... bolts holding rear exhaust hangers look pretty straightforward just hard to get to but when I tried to loosen/remove the forward rubber hanger it does not budge! Can you tell me if I should pull the rubber block off the upper pin chassis side or off the lower pin muffler side Either one seems tough but maybe wont be so bad once I get it lubed up and work some kind of pry bar in there! Any suggestions?

Some spray lubricant and a pry bar are almost always needed to pull the rubber piece off of the exhaust hanger. As far as which one to pry off I would say which ever one is easiest for you to get to on your 2016 Cadillac ATS. I have included a link to the installation instructions for Curt trailer hitch # C11311 for you.
The recommended ball mount for this hitch is # 3594. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 or for a 2 inch use # 19258. And for trailer wiring I recommend # C56180.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.
