For your 2015 VW Golf SportWagen, the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is a great choice that will have easy to use preset modes and a LCD screen. I've attached some videos as well as the installation details to assist.
To install this brake controller in your vehicle, you will first need a 4-way flat trailer wiring harness if you don't already have one. If you need one, I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. Then you will use this 4-way along with the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to get your 7-way wiring connector as well as all the additional wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers needed to install your brake controller.
I've attached a link to the installation of the # ETBC7 as well as videos to assist.
