Weight Distribution and Brake Controller Recommendation for 2014 Kia Sorento
Question:
purchasing an rpod 178 with a dry weight of 2700. pulling it with a 2014 kia sorento v6.gvwr is 3500 lbs.must get a receiver hitch first. so i was thinking of a curt mfg model #78593 from the local u-haul dealer. then i was going to the states to purchase the trailer and thinking of getting them to install a blue ox bxw 0750 with a 2 5/16inch ball. then i need a brake controller whatever that is. do you have any recommendations and should i get that done by u haul in canada or the trailer people who are going to put the blue ox? uhaul sells Reliance brake control model #13509 or Voyager model#9030 or a Prodigy P2 model #13522 being a newbie and 58 yrs old never having pulled a trailer i need all the help i can get!!!

Most of your part numbers are different from what we offer but I suspect that's because you are in Canada and they might be slightly different. Our Curt hitch part # C13152 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Kia Sorento and is confirmed for use with weight distribution. Since your trailer is lighter I would not recommend the Blue Ox # BXW0750 as that will be very harsh. Instead you'd want the Blue Ox # BXW0356 which will be better suited for this.
Avoid the Reliance brake controller as that's a very unreliable controller as ironic as that is to say. The P2 # 90885 is the best option and would be our recommendation.
