Recommended Brake Controller for a 2000 International 3800 Series
Question:
I have a 2000 international 3800 short school bus with hyd brakes and im needing a trailer brake controller that will work with the buses brakes the harder you press on the buses brakes the harder the trailer brakes apply, does your Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Item # HA100400C do that

Expert Reply:
The Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller part # HA100400C is a proportional brake controller meaning that the brakes from the tow vehicle will be applied to the trailer in the same intensity as you depress the pedal but it is designed for vehicles with air brakes. Since you said that you have hydraulic brakes then I recommend using an electric brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 is also a proportional brake controller. It has integrated safeguards to protect both the vehicle and trailer in addition to an easy to read LCD display. In order to use this controller on your 2000 International 3800 you are going to need a 4-way trailer connector like part # C59496, a 4 to 7-way trailer connector adapter like part # ETBC7, and some additional wires to extend the length of your vehicle like part # 10-2-1.
I have attached a review video on the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 for you as well.
