Question:
Hi there, I have a 2001 Nissan xTerra with a factory trailer connector. Id like to install a brake controller, but cant seem to find any specific instructions on how to do so. Can you help direct me to the right parts and ideally instructions? Thanks!

We don't have any manufacturers that make a brake controller harness for your 2001 Nissan Xterra with factory trailer connector. You will need to use the wiring kit # 5506 to hardwire your controller. This will not hurt your current connection, it will simply give you the wiring from the battery to your brake controller with the proper 30 amp circuit breaker in line and then your brake controller output will either splice into your factory run brake output wire or replace it running straight back to your 5 o'clock pin. This will be a very similar installation to the # ETBC7 which I've attached an article and video of to assist.
For your brake controller if you don't already have one, I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195. I've attached some videos of this controller and the fit on your 2001 Nissan Xterra.
