I like the looks of Thule Force better, should I get the XLarge, Large or medium? Thanks a lot!

I would be happy to get you exactly what you need. To do so, I would first need to know if your 2017 Volvo XC90's roof has side rails on top that are raised or if they are flush to the roof (basically, if there is a space underneath the rails on top of your roof or not). If you can get back to me with that info I can get you exactly what you need.

Thank you for the info. For your 2017 Volvo XC90 with flush mounted rails, I highly recommend: - Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420 (Black) OR # TH711400 (Silver) - Evo Raised Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars # TH710401 This roof rack is the best option for your 2017 Volvo XC90 because it offers a unique combination of function, strength and style while remaining very quiet and easy to use. The WingBar Evo crossbars are aerodynamic with a tapered shape and have integrated WindDiffusers which minimize wind noise so you can drive in peace without the loud and annoying whistling noise that can occur with other crossbars. This aero shape is also what helps to give the WingBar Evo its graceful look atop your Volvo. The WingBar Evo is also simple to use; it has QuickAccess strips in its T-slots so you can use channel-mounted accessories easily, saving you the time and frustration that come with using crossbars that require you to cut the rubber trim that lies in the slot. All you have to do to mount any accessory in the T-slot of the WingBar is twist the SwingBlade end caps to reveal the slots and slide your accessory right in. These crossbars obtain their strength and durability from their aluminum construction, which also keeps them rustproof. The WingBar Evo is so durable that it comes with a lifetime warranty to ensure you never have to worry about this bar wearing out over time - it won't. For a rooftop cargo box there is going to be a certain amount of space you would need in order for your rear hatch to open without interfering with the box. This is normally from the center of the front crossbar to the seam of the rear hatch on your Volvo, but because you do not have the rack yet, you will only be able to get an approximation by measuring near the front of your rails to the seam of your Volvo's hatch. This will give you an idea of how much space you'll have for a rooftop box. As an example, I recommend the Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box # TH615, and as indicated in the accompanying chart, you can see that you would need at least 46-3/8" from center of your front crossbar to the seam of the rear hatch in order for you to be able to open your Volvo's hatch without interference. The Thule Pulse Medium # TH614 would only need 42-5/8". The Pulse Large will give you 16 cubic feet of cargo carrying capacity and has a weight capacity of 110 lbs. It measures 76" long x 33" wide x 16-1/2" tall and will mount easily on your AeroBlade bars with clamps, meaning no tools will be required. It is aerodynamic to minimize drag comes with a locking lid for added secuirty. I've added a link to a video review of this box for you to check out as well.

You have really good taste, the Thule Force line of rooftop boxes will give you a sleek look. The Thule Force XT # TH6357B is the one I recommend so long as you have at least 47-1/2" when measuring from near the front of the flush rail to the seam of your Volvo's hatch. The Force Large will give you 16 cubic feet of capacity while the Force Medium offers 13 cubic feet. Both boxes will otherwise install with Quick-Grip mounting clamps, open on both sides and have SecureLock lids so you won't drive off with the lid still open.
