Recommended Hitch Extender for Lark V-Nose Travel Trailer for More Turning Clearance
Question:
I have an 8x16 Lark cargo trailer. It’s a v-nose with a very small tongue. About 30” from the middle of the coupler to the trailer wall along one of the “v’s”. I’d like to entend the receiver hitch to gain more clearance. My hitch is rated for 6,000 pounds/ 600 pound tongue weight without weight distribution. 8,000 pounds/800 pounds with WD. My trailer weighs 2,200 pounds empty, and about 4,000 pounds with cargo. What would you recommend to gain more clearance?

Expert Reply:
For your additional clearance on your 8x16 Lark cargo trailer, I recommend the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST18 which will work well for your combination when using a weight distribution system. You will want to note the use of this extension will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 33-1/3% according to the manufacturer. This will give you a max tongue weight of 533 lbs when using weight distribution.
