Recommended Ball Mount for 5 Inch Drop On 2007 Ford Explorer
Question:
5 inch drops are hard to find. What is better 4 inch or 6 as a compromise? 2007 Ford Explorer

Expert Reply:
You are correct that 5 inch drops are really difficult to find. We have no fixed mount ball mounts that fit a 2 inch receiver, only one for a 1-1/4 inch receiver # 36078 and the rest are for 2-1/2 inch receivers. I've attached that link to assist.
It is not ideal to be high or low, but if you have to choose one, then I recommend the Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # 2753 to be a little higher along with hitch ball # 63845.
For a more ideal towing that will also allow you 2 hitch ball options, I recommend the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900. You might also need a locking pin like # e98880.
