Is Trimming Required for the etrailer Hitch Part # e98864 on a 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV

Question:

Looking for 2 Receiver Hitch that fits Rav4 EV. The only one Im finding is Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch - 2012 Toyota RAV4 but the installation notes are advising the trimming or removal of underbody pane - 99.9 of the time it will be used for hauling bikes - is there trimming or removal of underbody needed for that?

You are correct in that the only trailer hitch receiver we have with a 2" receiver tube opening and will fit your 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98864. The etrailer hitch does not require trimming of the rear bumper cover. It does require you to remove an appearance panel, then you can just leave it off. Some people choose to trim and reinstall the appearance panel, but it is not necessary.

I have attached a sample install video of this hitch on a similar submodel for you as well. The only other thing I recommend is part # 63080 which will prevent the inside of the receiver tube from rusting while not in use.
