What is the Weight Capacity of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11067
Question:
How much does a Curt receiver for a Ford Fiesta hatchback number c11067 weight? I am looking for a receiver to attach a bicycle rack for two bikes. Weight of rack and two bikes is about 85 pounds. I like the looks of the Curt receiver. Will this receiver support this much load? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11067 weighs just at 30 lbs and has a Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) of 1,500 lbs with a Tongue Weight (TW) of 150 lbs. It will easily be able to carry 85 lbs of bikes and bike rack. A trailer hitch does not play into Tongue Weight (TW) so you only need to note the 85 lbs that you already calculated.
Please note that the Curt Class I trailer hitches, like the part #C11067 are only intended with accesories that are compatible with Class I receivers. If your bike rack has a 1-1/4" shank but isn't rated for a Class I hitch receiver then you should consider a different rack. Also, the Curt warranty does require the use of a Stabilizer Strap # 18050 for non-supported loads like a bike rack.
Please note that even though these hitch receivers are rated for 150 lbs TW you need to check your owner's manual for the TW of your Fiesta. If it is lower than 150 lbs your Fiesta will be the limiting factor and you need to stay within those limits.
