Converting T2 Bike Rack to 1-1/4 inch Hitch for 1994 Mercedes E320 Wagon

Question:

Hi, Im hoping to get a trailer hitch receiver for my 1994 E320 Mercedes Wagon. Ultimately, Im hoping to hook this up to a 2inch receiver Thule T2 bike rack that I already have, so aiming at that. The Thule T2 also has a 1 1/4inch receiver, but it appears to be a different part number and Ive inquired of its compatibility. I found the Curt C11806, but that has a 1 1/4inch receiver and is Class 1. Found the 1 1/4inch to 2inch Curt adapter, but that is Class 2 and Id rather have a 2inch custom and/or match Class, but understand the Class 2 should be stronger. Is this customization possible and anything else that I should be considering?

For your 1994 Mercedes E320 Wagon we have the Curt hitch part # C11816 as a confirmed fit. Like you noticed this is a 1-1/4 inch hitch. There are no 2 inch hitches available for your vehicle.

There is no longer an adapter available for the T2. Your best bet would be to start over with an economical class I rack like the Lets Go Aero NEO2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
Item # B01748.

You will also need a stabilizer strap. Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.
