Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ

For your 2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ, I recommend you use the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 for your trailer brake controller. This is a proportional controller that is easy to use and comes with the LCD screen requiring no code deciphering as well as preset boost options to make it easy to set for your trailer.
For your wiring, you will need to first have a 4-way harness if you don't already have one. For this I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118409 which will install to your wiring on both the driver's and passenger's sides behind protective covers near the rear bumper. Then you will use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 to connect to that 4-way and give you the reverse, brake controller, and 12V functions. This kit gives you the connections, wiring, and circuit breakers needed for that installation. I've attached videos and an article to assist.
If you don't already have a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75193 and ball mount # C45900 for the ability to tow your trailer level.
