Recommended 2018 Toyota Rav4 Components for Towing Pop-up Camper with 7 Blade Connector

Question:

Hi there, I have a 2018 Rav4 which I am installing a class 3 hitch on. I have looked all over and can not find a 7 blade RV connector kit. I have also recently purchased a popup camper that has the 7 prong connector. Can you please advise me what I need to make this 7 prong connector available on my 2018 Rav4 so I may tow my pop up camper There is no wiring currently setup on the Rav4. Thank You

If you haven't already purchased your hitch, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98864 which has a tongue weight rating from the hitch manufacturer of 525 lbs and a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. This will most likely exceed the vehicle capacity so, I recommend checking your owner's manual for further restrictions, but this will be a very strong and durable hitch.

Then for your wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118578 to give you a functional 4-way and then add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This kit will utilize your 4-way and give you the connectors, circuit breakers, and wiring needed to give you an active 7-way connection for your popup camper. You will also need to add a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. I've attached videos as well as an article to assist in this installation.

For a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. I've attached an article to help you determine the proper combination for your camper to tow level.
