Ball Mount Recommendation for 2014 Ford Fusion with Draw Tite Hitch Installed
Question:
I have a 2014 Ford Fusion with the Draw-Tite 24897 hitch that I would like to use to haul a 171lb Triton KL kayak trailer. The height to the top of the Fusions coupler is 10inch and the engineers plans only shows a measurement for the top of the trailers coupler at 19 7/8. I dont see a ball mount with a 9inch rise. Can I use a 1.25in to 2in adapter and use a 2inch ball mount that has a 9inch rise? With the kayaks on the trailer it would add at the top end 115lbs of additional weight.

With Class I hitches like the Draw Tite part # 24897 you have to use the recommended ball mount by the manufacturer otherwise the warranty of the hitch is voided. So for the Draw Tite hitch you have you'd have to use the Draw Tite ball mount part # 3594 in the rise position which is 4 inches of rise.
For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball you'd want the part # 19256 or for a 2 inch hitch ball # 19258.
