Brake Controller Install Harness Recommendation for 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited with Tow Package

Question:

Looking for a 2 plug adapter for a Tekonsha Primus IQ controller to be used on a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited with factory tow package. I have located the plug for the controller under the dash and want to make sure that part 3014-P will work.

I double checked with Tekonsha and the brake controller install harness part # 3014-P is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited with the factory tow package. This would be the correct harness to use to install the Primus IQ part # TK90160 that you mentioned as well.

RE: for a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited w/OEM tow package. My recreation popup dealer stated they had heard of problems with trailer brake controllers added onto push-button start Chrysler products. Something about fried circuit boards, LED brake lights and electrical feedback ?. Any thoughts you can share? Thanks in advance.

We had one issue with someone who tapped into the wrong wire for their stop lamp. It was basically drawing constant power and caused an overload. We have not had any issues when people have installed the brake controller correctly. Since you have the factory tow package you won't be doing any splicing at all so you won't have an issue. I recommend using the # 3014-S and the Redarc # 331-EBRH-ACCV2 for a really clean look and great option. If you are really concerned about the wiring, you can use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180. This doesn't even use the factory wiring but simply plugs into your 7-way for the necessary features.
