Sway Control Recommendation for 2018 Forest River Flagstaff H27SC

Question:

The wife and I are considering a 2018 Forest River flagstaff H27SC camping trailer. Towed by a 2008 Highlander V6 with towing package. Camper brochure says dry tongue weight is about 300#. Two different dealers we are still negotiating tell us that this trailer either does not need a weight distribution hitch or a Weight Distribution hitch can not be applied to the trailer. Sway control is a good idea and can be done. Is there a weight distribution hitch for the trailer, can it be applied. Should we insist this be done or is it only niceinch to have? Thank you!.

I tried looking up the trailer you have and couldn't find any pictures or info on it so it's hard to say if there's a reason weight distribution couldn't be used. That said if the dealers say you shouldn't use it they most likely are telling you that for a reason.

We have friction sway control units like the # 83660 which could be used and would work well. These systems do a great job getting rid of sway induced by passing semi trucks or cross wind.
