Is Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System Good for Trailer with 650 Pound Tongue Weight

Question:

If my trailer would be around 8000lbs fully loaded, and a tongue weight of 650lbs, would this Curt WD System be too much? I was going to go with the E2 from Fastway, but I like this 4 point system

The Curt TruTrack is a great system with the 4-point sway control.

You want your total, ready to tow tongue weight to fall somewhere in the middle of the range a weight distribution system is rated for. The Curt TruTrack, part # C17500, you referenced is rated for 800 to 1,000 pounds of tongue weight. So it might be a little high for you. However, you also need to add in the amount of weight you add behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle to your loaded trailer's tongue weight. So if you have more than 150 pounds behind the truck's rear axle to add to the 650 pounds of trailer tongue weight this may be a good choice.

Another great option, that may put you within the range and still has the 4-point sway control, is the Equal-i-Zer, part # EQ37100ET. It's rated from 600 to 1,000 pounds of tongue weight so it has a larger range than the Curt. It's also one of the top selling and highest recommend systems we carry.

Both systems include everything you need including the shank and hitch ball. However, you may need a thin walled socket, like part # ALL643216, to install the hitch ball on the Equal-i-Zer system.
