Can Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit be Wired to Trailer Battery?

Question:

Question is which power supply - main trailer battery, tow vehicle battery or the battery that came with the breakaway switch ? Wouldnt the breakaway switch work if wired directly to the main trailer battery and if so whats the need for the battery and charger that came with the unit ? I might be just over thinking this but it does make me wonder. Thanks for your help.

The Bright Way Breakaway Kit # 3802346 cannot be charged through a 12V circuit because that would result in overcharging the battery which is why it has its own battery.
