2012 Ford Escape 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness

Question:

I just purchased a 2012 Ford Escape all wheel drive 6 cylinder with what I believe is a factory hitch. There is a connector hanging down behind the the driver side rear tire. I am looking for the wiring harness to plug into this connector for the trailer connection. However, all the pictures of this connector do not look like mine. It is a rectangular male connector with 10 pins. I have attached photos. Please let me know if you have the correct part. Thanks.

We offer trailer wiring for the 2012 Ford Escape for both versions with the factory tow package and without.

For a 4-pole connector for the vehicle you can use part # 118251 which does plug in under the driver-side frame. If your Ford Escape does not have the factory tow prep package, you will need 3 relays (part # TR38665 - sold separately) to be able to install this wiring harness.

The other option is a kit that completely bypasses any factory trailer wiring. Tekonsha 4-pole kit # 118551 will work on any version (with or without tow package) since it provides totally independent wiring. This kit can be added to any version by plugging in the two main left and right connectors at the Escape's tail lights and by running one single power wire to the battery. A helpful article and video are linked for you.
