Recommended Gooseneck Hitch for 2016 Ford F-150 Compatible with Air Springs and 5th Wheel
Question:
I currently have Firestone Air Bags on my 2016 F-150 6 1/2 foot bed heavy duty payload package 35 gal fuel tank. I carry a truck camper but would like to have to flexibility to unload the camper to pull a gooseneck. Recommendations? I am actually looking a a 5th wheel trailer converted to gooseneck as I want to keep the bed empty for the camper when not pulling the trailer.

For your 2016 Ford F-150 6.5 ft bed, I recommend the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit # BW77FR over the other options due to it's design, reputation, and strength.
You can use a 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter for this or you can use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W. This hitch will allow you to have the additional turning clearance you will want, and will also allow you the clean bed when not in use for your camper or anything else. I also recommend using the wiring harness # 50-97-410-010 to add a 7-way to the bed of your truck for easy connection and clean look.
Your Firestone Air bags are not compatible with any in-bed hitch option, so you can't keep them if you want to use your truck for gooseneck or 5th wheel towing. You can however change them out for the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57268 which are compatible based on their mounting location.
