Troubleshooting 4-Way Installation on 2016 Nissan Rogue

Question:

Item #118480. I ordered this for my 2016 Nissan Rogue. I followed the video on website for install. When connected to trailer and turn lights on the lights on the right side of trailer are fine. On the left side the side marker light comes on but the tail light does not. The break light and blinker come on but just the rear running light drivers side does not. The drivers side rear tail light of vehicle comes on. I double checked the trailer with my other vehicle and the trailer lights all work fine. I’ve disconnected all connections and reconnected and ensured the yellow wire is on drivers side and green is on passenger. Thanks

I'm guessing it's a ground connection because it almost always is, but I'll give you some troubleshooting tips for you. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the 4-way on your 2016 Rogue after disconnecting it from your trailer. Check the wiring going into your harness from your taillights to see if those wires are carrying the correct signals, if not then the issue is with the vehicle wiring. If the signals going to your harness are okay, you'll need to test the signals coming out of the harness, and if they are correct then your issue is likely going to be with the trailer side wiring.

The issue you will want to take a look at very closely are the ground connections, as they can be the cause of numerous lighting problems. You'll want to make sure your grounds are securely attached to bare metal surfaces free of any paint, dirt or corrosion of any kind. Also check your wiring thoroughly to ensure there are none that are crimped, broken or otherwise damaged. I've added links to a pair of help articles on trailer wiring that you may also find useful.
