Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2000 Chevy Tahoe Z71
Question:
Could you please recommend a trailer hitch? I have a 00 Tahoe Z71 older body style, GVWR 6800 LBS. I would like a hitch that has a higher trailer load than my GVWR rating. I currently have the oem hitch rated at 5,000 trailer towing and 500 lb nose max. I dont Tow regularly. and when I do I stay under 4k total load. I would like a higher rated hitch for extra safety since I plan to purchase a boat this year.

A higher rated hitch is not going to be safer; you will be safe to tow so long as you stay within the limits of the vehicle. Should you still want something with a higher rating in case you increase your towing capacity then I recommend the Curt # C14029 which is a Class IV hitch with a 10,000 lb towing capacity and 1,000 lb tongue weight capacity. It has a 2" receiver and is a complete bolt-on installation that will fit your 2000 Chevy Tahoe Z71.
