Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Removable Ball for 2015 Ram 3500 with Flatbed

Question:

I have installed a flatbed on my truck and the manufacturer of the flatbed put a permanent pin in the bed under a steel hatch/door. I REALLY do not like that design because in the “cavity” where the pin is located it also contains the electrical plug in and the 2 chain safety hooks. I’m a hobbyist metal fabricator who is very well trained on welding projects. Will this part fit under the after market flat bed? I realize I will have to cut out the present hitch cavity/assembly to install your part. Once I cut out the present assembly, will your part attach security to the frame? If it will, I’ll be able to fabricate the “trimmings”. My goal is to get rid of the pin etc that is under the hatch and have a removable pin along with the chain attachments on top of the bed. If your assembly fits, I’ll take it.

I actually have a better solution for you that will cost less. You can use the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1500 which was designed specifically for flatbed trucks. Since you know your way around welding equipment and metal fabrication this installation should be a breeze for you. I have included a link to a video showing the components for you.

Hide-A-Goose hitch # 9466 could potentially work but I can't guarantee it.
