Recommended Hand Winch for 16 Foot Open Car Hauler Trailer
Question:
Have a new 16foot open car hauler trailer 14foot bed, 2foot dovetail. Would like to mount a hand winch on the front for the rare occasion of pulling a rolling utility tractor 2,500 lbs or possibly a small auto, up onto the bed. What hand winch and cable system would you recommend? Do you also offer brackets that could be used to mount the winch? thanks for your time

For your 16 foot open car hauler, I recommend the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap and Brake - 3,200 lbs
Item # 315-W3200D. This is rated for 3,200 lbs and is zinc plated to resist corrosion. It has 2 speeds for quick pull or increased mechanical advantage. It has a free-wheel position and a shift lock to keep the shaft in gear.
Your other option is to consider using an electric utility winch like # BDW15019 and then use wiring kit # BDW20206 to give you the quick release power from your tow vehicle.
