Can Westlake 235/80R16 Trailer Tires be Replaced with Westlake 235/85R16 Tires
Question:
I bought my trailer brand new and it is time to replace tires. The trailer came from the factory with Westlakes ST235/80R16s. Can I upgrade to the Westlake ST235/85R16? Thank you for your quick response.

The 235/85R16 size Westlakes, part # LHWL410, are an inch larger in diameter compared to the 235/80R16s part # LHWL401. So you need to make sure there's an extra half inch of clearance between the tire and the underside of the fender. You want a total of at least 3 to 4 inches of clearance.
Another thing to consider is the larger tires have a maximum psi of 110 pounds and trailer tires should always be inflated to their max. This is important because the valve stems on your wheels need to be able to handle the pressure. If your current stems aren't rated high enough you can upgade them with # AM20906 that are rated over 100 psi.
