Recommended Brake Controller for 2018 Forest River 2400WSD Sunseeker and Utility Trailer with 7-Way

Question:

The brake controller looks great but it sounds like it needs to be attached to the trailer. We will be either towing our boat or a trailer with a side by side. Both have 7 way plugs. Can the controller be mounted on the motor home? Thanks.

If your utility trailer has brakes, then you will need to add a brake controller. If it does not, then you will not need to run a brake controller. Because your utility trailer has a 7-way it is very likely that it has brakes, so I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # TK94FR. This will mount directly to your trailer frame and connect to your motorhome's 7-way to give you an easy to use system compatible with your Mercedes-Benz Chassis and factory 7-way.

I've attached some articles to assist in making this connection. This brake controller will apply your trailer brakes at the same time and with the same amount of braking pressure as you use on your brake pedal in your motorhome. Let me know if you have further questions.

The Prodigy RF # TK94FR does need to be mounted to the trailer for proper function. Since you want to use different trailer, I recommend hardwiring your motorhome and using a different brake controller. For that application, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 and then using the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This installation will require splicing into the cold side of your brake light switch and connecting it to the red wire of your controller. It will also require running a wire from the 5 o'clock pin on your 7-way to the back of your brake controller's blue brake output wire. I've attached a video and an article to assist.
