Is there an Alternative Wiring Method For Installing C59496 on a 2003 Volvo V70

Question:

There is a connector of some sort in the spare tire well of my 2003 Volvo V-70. My question is: Is this to connect a Volvo supplied trailer wiring harness or is it for some other purpose? If it is for a trailer connector, then I should be able to determine the correct wires for connecting the C59496 KIT . This would simplify every thing as it is accessible and th er is a grommet immediately below it to pass the wires through. My original thought was that this was for some sort of connector for maintenance purposes.May I have your thoughts.

It could very well be a connector for a Volvo made wiring harness that you have located. You can test it to see or even call a local dealership and ask the parts or service departments if they make a harness and if so, where it plugs in.

If you decide to test the wiring, you can use a circuit tester that is included with the # C59496 wiring harness. Have someone sit in the vehicle and run through the various taillight functions of your 2003 Volvo V70 while you test the wires on the connector you have found.

If you determine that the connector you found will work, you will still need to ground the converter box white wire and route the black power wire to the vehicle positive battery terminal via the included in line fuse and holder. Also, if the connector is for a trailer wiring harness, there may also be fuses and/or relays related to the factory harness that allow it to be fully functional.
