Trailer Hitch That Fits 1997 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Will this guy work on 97 Jeep Wrangler Sport V6?

Expert Reply:
There is a Class III 2" hitch that is a fit for your 1997 Jeep Wrangler, but that guy # DT78MR won't work. Instead I recommend the Curt # 13408, which has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs and max towing capacity of 4,000 lbs. It is a bolt-on installation so no drilling will be required.
For wiring to add a 4-way you need the Hopkins # HM42605 which is a plug-in connector so you will not need to do any type of splicing. If you are going to be towing, I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached links to a video review of the ball mount kit and our page with each of our ball mounts as well as links to the other products I've mentioned.
