Trunk Mounted 2 Bike Rack for a 2011 BMW X3  

Question:

I would like to know what options I have for a trunk mounted 1 or 2 bike rack for my 2011 X3 35i. Its an MSport model. I would mostly be hauling just one bike, but it would be nice to be sturdy enough to hold two bikes.

For your 2011 BMW X3, I recommend the Saris Bones 2, part # SA805BL. This is a quick installing, sturdy carrier wtih the option to carry two bikes as needed. Its arc structure will let it set up in a way that lets it avoid resting a lot of weight on your spoiler, and the required Hatch Huggers, part # SA3035 transfer weight to the inside of the vehicle, rather than onto the spoiler.

This rack doesn't include locks, so I recommend adding a cable lock like part # e98891 to add security to the bikes while they're on the rack, and Thule's Passive Securtity Strap, part # TH533 to help secure the car to the inside of the vehicle.
