Replacement Cushioned Pin Box for a Short Venture Pin Box on a 1997 Airstream

Question:

We have a 1997 Airstream Integrity fifth wheel with a Vevture short pin box 6 1/2 bolts with 1-1/2x8 spacing. Pin is basically centered between the bolts 3-1/2...4-1/2 MoRryde doesnt make a cpb for this specifically. Their closest models have different bolt spacing but are the right width and have a centered pin. My only listed options on the web seem to be changing to an offset pin, and I think that change in the stress factors on the frame may be more detrimental than leaving it un-cushioned. Fyi, my reasoning for searching for a cushioned option is a recent upgrade to an unforgiving f550 cab and chassis. Im not very excited about the idea of a $3,000 air ride hitch, and Im not convinced that it would address the biggest shock loads to the trailer frame. Do I have any cushioned pin box options that will address lateral shocks? Trailer warranty is a long gone concern on a 97.

We do have a replacement cushioned pin box option for your short Venture pin box on your 1997 Airstream.

The Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel King Pin # UF35-946219 is a direct replacement for what you have. The pin doesn't site between the bolt holes like what you mentioned the original one does, but this is what Lippert says will be compatible as a replacement. If you check out the attached diagram you can compare the following measurements with your current pin box.

2a - 8"
2b - 1-1/2"
2c - N/A
2d - 1/2"
2e - 3/4"
2f - 6
3a - (-4")
3b - 4"
3c - 12"

If these are a match, which from what you described it should be, then the Trailair Air Ride will work great for you.
