Hooking a Gooseneck Trailer with RV 7-Way Plug to 1999 International 9100 7-Way Round Plug
Question:
Need to hook up a gooseneck trailer with a round RV 7 flat bar plug to a 1999 International 9100 road tractor with a 7 round pin plug. We have made a sort cord to hook to each. But how do you get the brake lights to work with the truck having a wire for just the brake lights and trailer having turn and brake on same wire? And what do we need to get the trailer brakes to work with the air brakes on the truck?

The first thing that you need is the Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47425 which converts the 7-Way round connector on your 1999 International 9100 to a 7-Way blade style connector. This will plug into your 9100 and provide a pace to connect the gooseneck trailer wiring.
The next step is to then use the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter # RM-732 on your trailer side wiring right behind the 7-Way. This converter takes separate brake and turn signals and combines them so that the brake and turn signals are on the same circuit. Although the turn and brake signals are typically on the bottom half of a commercial 7-Way connector (see attached picture), you will want to use a Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to make sure that the pins on your trailer are wired the correct way.
If you are wanting to utilize the air brakes on your 9100 with a brake controller then we have the Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller # HA100400C which can accomplish that. Otherwise I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 and just connecting it to your electrical circuits.
Either way you will connect the white from the controller to ground, the black to 12V battery, the blue to the 7-Way connector to activate trailer brakes, and the red to the COLD side of the stop light switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed).
If you need extra wiring and the circuit breakers for the installation (see attached photo) then you can also use the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506.
