Recommended Electric Brake Controller for Off-Road Trailering

Question:

My new trailer has electric brakes. I will be taking it off road so side to side tilt will be common. A friend recommended a controller using brake fluid pressure vs accelerometer. Do you have these?

I have not heard of such a thing. What your friend may be talking about is an Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator that allows you to use an electric brake controller on a trailer with hydraulic brakes. This will not work for a trailer with electric brakes.

The good news is that for your off road trailering, there is a brake controller that is designed to work well for your application. It is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. This controller fits into your dash board or console so you can have control with a clean look. This controller has a proportional brake setting for your on the road traveling using the accelerometer and then has a different setting for off-road use called user-controlled mode. I've attached a couple of videos to assist.

The wires you need for connecting a brake controller are run under your dash. I have attached a video installation of a different brake controller so you can see how to wire it to your vehicle.
