Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2009 Honda Fit
Question:
Is there a hitch with a 2inch opening that will fit on a Honda Fit? I have a Bike rack that fits a 2inch opening and would like to be able to mount it on my Honda Fit without having to use a adjustable piece.

Usually, only larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks have the 2 inch hitch size available. For lighter duty vehicles like your 2009 Honda Fit there are usually only 1-1/4 inch hitches like the Curt # C11064 which is a confirmed fit.
However, EcoHitch makes a hitch for your FIT that has a 2-inch opening, the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 306-X7286. This hitch allowes a tongue weight of up to 300 pounds. It will be important to make sure that the total weight of you bikes and your bike carrier are 300 pounds or lighter.
You also will need to check your owner's manual to determine the tongue weight capacity that is allowed on your FIT. If it is lower than 300 pounds, then that will be the limit that you will need to go by. If it is higher than the 300 pounds, then you must stick to the 300 pound limit. You go by the lowest capacity.
For a bike rack, I really like the Saris Freedom Superclamp part # SA4025F. This is a lightweight platform rack (which is normally an unheard of combo). That means it'll be easy to install and remove from your vehicle since it's light, but also, it'll be very easy to load bikes on since it's a platform rack.
This rack also only touches bikes at the tire so it protects any damage to delicate frame materials or finishes. This is a more expensive bike rack but it really is very nice and fits 2 and 1-1/4 inch hitch sizes. We have options that cost less too.
One of the most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
