Does Wiring Batteries in Series Double the Batteries Amp Hours?
Question:
Hi, I want to wire 2 - 6V batteries in series to create 12V for my tear trailer. reason is, I was told that two batteries are better to have than one. I wire these 2 - 6V batteries with 300ah each in series, I not only create my 12V system but I also double the ah rating to 600ah? Am I thinking correctly in this process? Thanks

Wiring your pair of 6V batteries in series will create 12V for your tear trailer.
What it will not do is double your amp hour rating to 600 however. For that you would need to wire the batteries in parallel, though you would not have a 12V system if you did that.
