Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount and Brake Controller for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude
Question:
I have a 2018 grand Cherokee altitude. At the moment I am only hauling equipment from work and the trailers and loads will vary. Would I be best served to use an adjustable hitch since the we have several different trailers? Most of the time I will be about 4,000 pounds or less, almost never over 4,000. Would you recommend a trailer brake controller? Im only traveling about 10 miles.

The etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989900 would be a great option if you only have a couple trailers, but could be an issue with multiples and in some cases will involve tools. I definitely recommend going with an adjustable ball mount like # C45900. This will give you both a 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch diameter hitch ball and the adjustment for switching hitch ball size and height takes only seconds with no tools required. I've attached an article on ball mount height to assist.
If you need all 3 size hitch balls, I recommend moving to the Tow & Stow # BWTS10048B. This will give you adjustability as well as the ability to store the ball when not in use for a clean look.
A brake controller is a great idea since you will be towing up to 4,000 lbs, so I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 with its simple preset options along with the harness # TK93VR to simply and easily install it.
