Valet XL Trailer Dolly Part # TVXL25 Tilting While in Motion

Question:

I have a trailer that weights about 8000lbs, tongue weight is about 850lbs. Every time I move the trailer with the valet xl the dolly starts to tilt and gets out of position. I follow the instructions on how to mount it and tighten the collar to its maximum. I also saw the videos from the valet xl on how to connect it. Any suggestions?

I spoke to my contact at Trailer Valet and they informed me that the problem you are experiencing can normally be attributed to one of three different situations. The first thing you will need to do to ensure the dolly does not tilt while in motion would be to ensure that you have the proper size hitch ball that matches the coupler you have on your trailer. The Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly part # TVXL25 comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball but if you have a 2" trailer coupler you will need to replace the 2-5/16" hitch ball with a 2" hitch ball part # TVHB2.

Another possible cause that the dolly is tilting could be attributed to collar not being tightened enough. Per the instructions, you will want to use the tightening tool and turn the locking nut counterclockwise until the nut is securely flat against the coupler.

The other possible reason as to why the dolly is tilting while in use would be associated with the parts not being installed correctly. I have emailed you a copy of the installation manual in addition to an install video of the dolly which you will want to take a look at. If none of the above steps fix your problem please let me know and I would be glad to provide additional advice.
