Should There Be Clearance On The Center Hanger # 115918
Question:
Said part is for 1.75 wide double eye springs yet the spacing between the legs is 1 and 15/16 leaving 3/16 of play. Wouldnt it be better if it fit tighter? Should a washer be added to take up play? Why so much play? The old one I am replacing has an elongated hole but the fit is snug.

You will want a bit of clearance so that the spring will be able to move.If it were any tighter the spring would squeak and wear obsessively.
You will not want to add a washer to the Center Hanger, part # 115918.
There is clearance to allow the spring to move and so that there will not be squeaking and excessive wear on the the spring and hanger.
The hanger that you are replacing more than likely has an elongated hole from wear and tear and bushings that are worn or starting to wear.
