Weight Rating Limits Regarding Cargo Carriers
Question:
Greetings, I am interested in using a platform cargo carrier. I see each carrier has a weight limit + my hitch documentation gives me a tongue weight - I assume I should use the lesser of these two when loading the platform? Thank you!

When using a cargo carrier like # C18145, you want to consider the trailer hitch tongue weight capacity as well as if the vehicle manufacturer gives a tongue weight capacity. If the manufacturer specifies a tongue weight rating capacity you will find it in your owners manual under the trailer towing section. If they do not specify a rating, then you will compare the cargo carrier and the trailer hitch receiver ratings and go with the lesser of the two as you max capacity.
