Troubleshooting D.C and C.C. Messages on Curt Triflex Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
When I step on the brake it briefly shows power level and then flashes d.c. And then flashes c.c. What would cause this? Thanks

I recommend starting by checking both the tow vehicle side and trailer side connectors. Check to make sure that they are free of any debris or corrosion, cleaning out as needed. The D.C. message you are getting on the Curt Triflex # C24VV indicates no trailer brakes. This is typically caused by a loss of trailer connection, unplugged or bad wiring. If there is corrosion inside the vehicle or trailer connector, this will lead to a bad connection which might be what is causing these error messages. The C.C. that flashes is not necessarily an error message, but an indication that the controller is checking the calibration.
If the connectors look okay or cleaning them out doesn't resolve the issue, I recommend testing the brake circuit pin of the vehicle connector with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Test to make sure it is receiving power when the manual override lever is triggered on the brake controller.
If you find you aren't getting proper power at that pin, I recommend moving closer to the brake controller, cutting the blue wire about 10 inches from the controller and testing it there. If you still are not getting power, then the controller itself is likely bad and will need to be replaced. If you do get power there, then there is a damaged wire somewhere between there and the connector. You will simply need to trace down the bad section and repair.
If you are still unable to fix the issue, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
