We do have a selection of 5th wheel hitches that are compatible with the prep package on your 2017 Ram 2500 with a 6-1/2' bed. Since you have a short bed it is recommended to go with a sliding 5th wheel hitch so that you can avoid trailer to cab contact when making tight turns.

The most popular options is the B&W Companion # BWRVK3670 which sits right into the factory pucks and locks in with the handles and clips. This is a great 5th wheel hitch that is rated for 20K and is made right here in the USA. It features a dual jaw system and fully articulating head which eases hookup and helps to limit chucking.

We also have some autosliding 5th wheel hitches. These are designed to make towing with a short bed truck much easier as you do not have to keep getting in and out of your truck when making tight turns with a typical sliding 5th wheel hitch.

Demco has their Autosliding Hijacker which comes in 18K # DM8550034 and 21K # DM8550035 options depending on the weight of your trailer. These install on the Rail Adapter # DM6099 which installs directly into your puck system. The Hijacker has a double-pivot hitch head which acts similarly to the Companion, but the single jaw system and cushioning polyurethane dampeners are an upgrade that help with ride quality.
