Troubleshooting Hopkins Backup Camera with Blue Screen on Monitor

Question:

I have this camera installed on a 2009 Mazda CX-9. It worked great for quite a while, but now All I get is blue on the monitor. I checked the connections and they seemed OK. Any suggestions?

It sounds like one of two possible problems. First, since you did the hardwire method, make sure that you also grounded the wiring to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. Check that the splices are good and secure along with all plug-in connections.

It is possible that power is being interrupted and that could be what is causing the problems.

The other possibility is that there is something wrong with the unit and it will need to be replaced.

If there is something wrong with the unit that could explain why it did not work when you plugged it in. But you will also want to make sure the reverse light circuit is working at the 7-Way on your vehicle. It could be a missing or blown fuse.
