For your 2017 Honda Pilot, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98840. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and will work with both the OEM mini and full-size spare tire, as long as the full-size spare is the 18 inch factory unit. It will not fit with the 19 or 20 inch spare tire that may have been an option for your Pilot. The spare will need to be lowered or removed temporarily during installation, but can be replaced once the hitch is mounted. This custom-fit hitch will use existing holes in the Pilot's frame for a no-drill installation.
I have attached an installation video on your vehicle that you can use for reference.
If you do not have the factory connector on your vehicle and are looking to do some towing, I recommend the Vehicle Wiring Harness # C59236. This universal kit will install a 4-Way flat at the rear of your Pilot to connect with and power a trailer's basic signal lights. I have included the installation instructions that you can take a look at.
To tow a trailer, you will also need a ball mount and hitch ball. I have attached a great article that explains how to determine the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
